The People of Sparks

The people of Ember have come to a new world, arriving with hardly more than the clothes on their backs. But the people in the village of Sparks are willing to help them—at least at first.
This new world is strange to the Emberites. Why is it so empty? Why is there no electricity? What is the Disaster the people of Sparks talk of? Gradually the Emberites learn the answers to these questions. But the biggest question of all remains: Can they live with these people? Or are they heading for disaster again??


The Prophet of Yonwood

The Diamond of Darkhold
It's been several months since Lina and Doon escaped the dying city of Ember and, along with the rest of their people, joined the town of Sparks. Life above ground is hard. The winter storms have been fierce. Supplies are running low. Accidents and disease have is around. It's during this dark time that Doon finds an unusual book. Torn up and missing most of its pages, it tells (of what they can find) of a mysterious device, a piece of technology from before the Disaster. Doon is sure that the Builders of Ember meant for the citizens to find this device when they left the city. Together, he and Lina must go back to their old home and retrieve what was lost...

Car Trouble
Duff Pringle is heading across the country, aiming for his new job in California. But his used Ford barely makes it a hundred miles from home before breaking down. What's he supposed to do? Using his laptop and some quick thinking, he pieces together a way to continue his trip. What he doesn't plan on are the people he meets along the road. There's Stu, a hitchhiker with a secret; Bonnie, a singer with a con artist for a mother; two thugs looking for a trunkful of cash; and Moony, the terrier prone to carsickness.

Jeanne Duprau

Jeanne DuPrau was born in 1944 and now is the author of the very popular City of Ember (now a major motion picture) and the sequels to the book. The series consists of four books (The City of Ember, The People of Sparks, The Prophet of Yonwood, and The Diamond of Darkhold)

As a child, Jeanne loved reading and writing. She wrote her first book at five years old, the title was "Frosty the Snowman" reported Jeanne "It was five pages long and illustrated with red and green crayons". She enjoyed reading to her sister. She never knew that she would become a writer.

She has written five novels, six nonfiction, and a few essays and story's. She spends her days on the computer thinking up sentences. Believe it or not, she has been a teacher, editor, and a technical writer.She graduated from Sparrks University. She finds writing hard. The most popular series she has written is The City of Ember.

One thing about Jeanne, is that she doesn't have children. She doesn't have children, but she does have have two nephews and one niece. She does have a dog named Ethan. She has a garden with everything from apples to Zinnias. Ethan enjoys Helping her in the garden
